The holiday season is quickly approaching, and while many look forward to annual traditions, time with family and friends, some people dread the holidays. There are many who are stricken with grief and loneliness, others are saddened due to separation from family and many struggle with discouragement for one reason or another.
Thanksgiving is a good time to reflect and give thanks for our blessings! If you are blessed with the love of family and friends, give thanks! If you’re healthy, give thanks!
If you have a roof over your head, give thanks! If you have holiday meal plans, give thanks! If you’re blessed with income to provide for your family, give thanks! I am grateful and give thanks to God for my family, friends, readers and all of his blessings!
As a nation, we have so much to be thankful for. However, many lose sight of this and spend too much time complaining about inconveniences and insignificant matters.
Melody Beattie once said, Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow.
As you prepare to start this holiday season, count your blessings, give thanks and share with someone in need.
Happy Thanksgiving!
With gratitude,
