Keep the faith!

It’s a brand new day. Life as we once knew it has recently changed and has global impacts. We’re all experiencing a new normal. Travel and business operations have been temporarily suspended, vacation and wedding plans postponed, worship services conducted online and most of the country on lockdown as a result of the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19).  There are differing opinions on the situation as world leaders strive to calm public fears, provide aid for medical support and manage the hysteria as a result of the national crisis.

Most have never witnessed this sort of epidemic during their lifetime. While circumstances and routines have changed for many, there are numerous things to be grateful for despite threats of this unprecedented  outbreak.

As a society, we are implementing social distancing and asked to stay home except to go out for essential needs. In speaking with family and friends stateside and abroad, schedules and priorities have shifted, commutes limited and school breaks extended which allows them to spend uninterrupted quality time together. Is this such a bad thing? I think not.

We often spend countless hours chasing a dream, building a career and climbing the corporate ladder at the expense of our families. I am not opposed to goal setting, preparing one’s self for promotional opportunities and most certainly not minimizing the criticality of the national state of affairs. However, the result has caused myself and many others to pause and reflect. The declaration of a “National State Emergency” reminds us of the fact that in the blink of an eye, everything can change.

With this being said, we should count our blessings! I realize a lot of people are struggling and dealing with a variety of issues. My thoughts are prayers are with the nation and those who are most impacted. I believe with God, all things are possible. In time, this too shall pass. In the meantime, I give thanks for faith, shelter, food, water, health amid the crisis, family, friends, work and readers of this post.

Melody Beattie once said, gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turn what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow.

As I close this post, I encourage you to look up and live as God is still in control!

With gratitude,
