Living your best life!

The phrase ”to thine own self be true” is a famous quote coined by William Shakespeare. This was initially expressed in his play Hamlet.  There are many interpretations of the phrase. Some suggest a disregard for the opinions of others and solely consider oneself. While others imply a focus on the ideas of truth. What does it mean to you? Let’s take a moment to unpack this notable message.

Life is an adventure with divergent paths. All roads lead to a destination. However, we must have the courage to take the journey. Robert Frost’s poem “The Road Not Taken” speaks to those times in life when you come to a fork in the road and a decision has to be made. When faced with choices in life, do you go with the mainstream and follow the lead of others or go it alone? This is an important question that can be used to assess one’s commitment to personal values, goals and dreams.

In my opinion, the  phrase “to thine own self be true” suggests honesty, individuality and self accountability. It’s being bold enough to take a leap of faith and wholeheartedly pursue your God given purpose. If you want to be successful in life and your career, be on point and pursue everything with a deeper meaning and on purpose. Seek every opportunity to grow in wisdom, knowledge and understanding. Be a difference maker and choose the road less traveled.

The end of the year is an opportunity to begin anew.  What does 2020 hold in store for you? Will it be the year you discover the reason for your existence? According to Mark Twain, the two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.

Be a difference maker, discover the reason for your existence and vow to live your best life!

With gratitude,
